1947 Ford Sedan Coupe

1947 Super Deluxe V8 Sedan Coupe, Slate Grey Poly exterior and interior. LeBaron Bonney light gray pin stripe broadcloth interior with vinyl trim. Gray rear carpet. Light gray fabric headliner. Nick name: Freddie the Flathead. 100% stock except for "factory tint" glass and aircraft style lap safety seat belts and classic style electronic turn signals. The electrical system is authentic original 6 volt with all fresh correct wiring and correct script battery. Nice bright lights and peppy starting.

Brief history: Car was assembled in Long Beach, California and is considered a "mid to late production" type with factory equipped direct action tubular shocks, but still has original factory installed trumpet style fender apron mounted horns. Car is very low mileage (approx. 47,000) and very rust free. It has been a Southern California car throughout its life and very well cared for by its owners. I was lucky to find it in Yorba Linda and was thrilled to bring it home here in Fountain Valley. I have done all the restoration work myself with some pro help on the Columbia overdrive and glass work. The engine is a correct 59AB type with approximately 5,000 miles on it. It has plenty of power and good gearing with the stock 3.78:1 rear axle plus the overdrive for the highway. More work to cosmetics is planned in the near future. I use modern radial tires for touring and day to day city driving. I keep an authentic set of 6.00-16 WSW Firestone Deluxe Champion tires mounted and ready for special occasion shows, etc. Many "old timers" come up to me and tell me their stories of how they "had one just like it right after the war" and how they love to see this car and being so original. I always remind them that "it is a V8!"

Accessories: Columbia two speed axle overdrive, Adjust-O-Matic radio, radio foot switch, clock, heater, engine compartment lamp, backup lamp, wheel trim rings, Dynamatic fan, magnetic drain plugs, rare polarized interior sun visor (genuine Ford accessories). Has authentic 1947 California plates under current registration.

This car has excellent road worthiness and has made five round trips to Yosemite National Park area (600 mile round trip) in the last two years. It is a Touring A Class car by EFV8 Club technical standards due to use of tinted glass (even though it is very light tint). It received a 2nd prize in Touring A category at the 2001 Western National Meet at Pismo Beach, CA for its official car show entry. Everything on this car is 100% operational and is a pleasure to drive. Even the automatic trunk light is once again functional (I know of only one other similar model that has a correct working light assy., my sedan!). This is an excellent personal car and fun to drive, plus it has room enough for friends to ride along in the back seat in comfort. The trunk is spacious.
